Biography
Lindsay's career as a singer began during classical
training, progressing to an honours degree in drama
& theatre arts (where she worked with people such
as playwright David Edgar and playwright/director Terry
Johnson) with options in music, from University of Birmingham.
Having subsequently trained as an actor at Guildford
School of Acting, she then took on both acting and singing
engagements. Although Lindsay's musical interests and
experience were originally in music theatre from an
early age (Sondheim in particular), jazz, swing and
big band were waiting to take hold and it wasn't long
before she moved into this genre and decided to embark
upon a solo career as a jazz singer with her own band.
Lindsay's music influences include: Laura Fygi, Sarah
Vaughan, Stacey Kent, Jane Monheit, Ella Fitzgerald,
Barbra Streisand, the Mamas & Papas, and Helen Shapiro,
as well as latin jazz, and the music of Louis Jordan.
